Colours
make us beautiful and bright, they make us stand out more and show off
our facial features and skin tone. Mistral is full of bright clothes in
all the colours you can think of. Sometimes colours, that on first
thought appear not to match, can look fantastic layered together -
Mistral always uses a wide range of shades that match each other. So
when shopping with us, always try on many different colours and patterns
as you may be surprised!
Understanding which part of your body
is the longest is imperative in deciding which clothes best suit you. It
allows you to highlight which areas you should accentuate and which
areas you should perhaps draw less attention too.
There are two key elements to understanding your body shape.
The
first is to determine which part of your body is the longest. Many of
us believe we know if we have a long torso and shorter legs, however,
many are surprised when measured.
In order to calculate your
length proportions, firstly measure your entire height from the tip of
you head down to you heels, then measure from the tip of your head to
the point of your bottom where is protrudes the most.
So, for
example, if your body length is 63 inches and your torso length is 32
inches you take 32 from 63 and that will equal your leg length, in this
example the leg length will be 31 inches, therefore you would have a
long torso and short legs.
Short Legs, Long Torso
If your legs are short compared to your upper body you have short legs and a long torso...
Your hip-line height is less than half your height
You may also have a low waist -- your waist will be lower than your bent elbow
You will have a long torso -- typically you will put on weight first on your thighs and hips
Your bottom will typically be low and heavy
You may also be short – although tall people can also be short legged
Your main style aims are to create the illusion of longer legs and a shorter torso.
Do wear...
Jewellery, scarves and garment designs that draw the observer's eye up towards your shoulders and face

Layered tops
Medium or light tops and dark pants or skirts
Medium to wide belts
Straight skirts
Straight or boot-leg pants

Medium to high heels
Pant hems to the ground
Balanced Body
If your upper body length is about the same as your lower body length you have a balanced body...
Your hip-line height is half your full height
Your waist is at your bent elbow
Females may be low busted
You tend to put on weight around your torso or hips and thighs
You probabaly have a round well formed bottom or you have a flat bottom
You have proportionally slim arms and legs
If you are less than 160cm (5’3”) with a small to medium body scale then you are alsopetite.
Your main style aim is to elongate your mid-torso.

Long Legs, Short Torso
If your legs are longer than your upper body you have a long legged vertical body type...
Your hipline height is higher than half your full height
You should also have a high waist -- your waist will be higher than your bent elbow
You will have a proportionally short torso
Your bottom will typically be round and high
You tend to put on weight around your waist, above your waist or on the back of your hips
You may also be tall -- although short people can also be long legged
Your main style aims are to create visual balance by creating the illusion of a longer mid-torso and shorter legs.

As a rule we should always highlight the longest part of our body.
The second measurement will determine which body shape you are.
In
order to calculate this, simply measure the width of your shoulders and
the width of your hips, for example if you measure 16 inches on your
shoulders and 17 inches on your hips then you have a pear shaped body.
Pear shaped body
Hips
are wider than shoulders; weight is carried on the lower part of the
body, in order to balance this type of body, weight should be added to
the top half, tops should never end mid-thigh or at the widest part of
the hip, instead wear fitted tops, that will not cut the vision of the
straight body.
Avoid wearing heavy fabric or patterns below the waist, keep this to the top half of the body.
A
perfect example that we have in Mistral is our floral cotton scarf, we
have this in two colours which can work with the two underlying skin
tones, and help create that idea look for the pear shape.
V shaped body
Shoulders are winder than the hips, hips are narrow and the weight is carried on the upper part of the body.
To
balance this look emphasis must be on the hips, this can be done with
textured fabric below the waist, and the focus should be drawn down in
order to balance the body. Light weight fabric is great.
Hourglass
Hips
and shoulders are balanced and the waist is small, weight is carried
equally, with this type of body women the waist should be highlighted ,
wraps and bets are great ways to achieve this. Avoid bulky material as
it adds weights,
A great idea in Mistral is this…
Straight up and down
Hips and shoulders are balanced; waist is undefined or average.
Try to make the waist smaller so the body appears more defined, avoid boxy clothing and stiff fabrics
Wear
clothing that elongates the body, V neck tops are great, jewellery and
scarfs work well because they draw attention to the neckline.
Clothing that has ruffles and gathering create a more famine frame.
In Mistral a great way to create this is …….
Rounded body
Hips and shoulders are balanced and the bust can either be full or not so full.
Wear long tops and avoid highlighting the waist
Avoid clothing that is too tight across the middle and fabric that is unforgiving
The above information is a guideline to finding what best suits you.
Here at Mistral we are dedicated to ensuring that you find the right outfit.
All of our ladies can help you build your outfits so please ask at any store where will do our best to get it right for you.
